What's Encore?
MNPS
Gifted services will provide students identified as intellectually gifted or
academically talents opportunities for advancing intellectual capacity
while enhancing foundational knowledge and skills and developing the character
necessary to excel in higher education, work, and life.
We embrace and value a diverse student population and community. Different
perspective sand backgrounds form the cornerstone of our strong public education system.
Instructional Goals
Meet Mrs. Sneed
My name is Nancy Sneed. I have been an Encore teacher for fourteen years. I taught
in the regular K-4 classroom for eight years prior to teaching gifted students.
I truly enjoy the enthusiasm and higher level thinking skills I see in your children.
Our Encore classroom uses student-inquiry based thematic units. These units tie
in with our International Baccalaureate Programme. I use Brunerian concepts that
promote creative and expanded thinking. I believe a great way to learn is through
problem solving, creativity, collaboration, and challenges. I use learning strategies
that work for each student. This is done in a non-threatening environment
incorporating hands-on learning. I look forward to our classes as much as
your children. I love what I do and your children are the reason!
I grew up in Knoxville, Tennesseein a large family. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a double major in Marketing and Home Economics. I married and moved to Nashville working in retail and commercial sales and interior design.
After my son was born, I went back to school and received my M.ED degree.
My husband is a retired Psychologist. I enjoy working out, reading, painting, pottery,
gardening and traveling.
Thank you for the opportunity of teaching your children!
